Hattie McDaniel (1895 - 1952) won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mammy in Victor Fleming's GONE WITH THE WIND. She was the first African American actress to win an Oscar.

Since April of 2012, American artist WILL HOLUB has been publishing his digital project THAT WOMAN IS ME, which explores gender-defining images of women in visual culture and technology. With an emphasis on cinema, THAT WOMAN IS ME also functions as a carefully researched movie database honoring the achievements of an eclectic assortment of actors, directors and cinematographers. Most images, which are presented in storyboard-like sequences, are original movie framegrab photographs that WILL HOLUB takes with a tripod-mounted camera while screening DVDs. Additional images are screen captures from streaming movies, downloads from other websites, or selections drawn from his own art and photography archives.
